Moving day

We closed on both houses Wednesday, January 27th.  Thursday evening we got the keys to the new house and headed over with the kids to have a picnic dinner on the kitchen floor.  Later that night, a friend came over to babysit our sleeping kiddos while we started to personally move over some items.  Friday, January 29 the movers came to help us transfer the rest of our "stuff" and all our furniture.  The movers hadn't correctly calculated how much stuff we have...we must hide it really well ;)  They ended up calling for an additional man and then later another man and truck at the end of the day in order to finish on time!

Oh, I will miss this house and our location!!!  Over the last 7.5 years we worked so much on this house, really making it our own.  It was our "first place" as a couple and it became our first real home as our family grew.  The neighborhood was wonderful to walk in, had so many fun parks, an awesome pool right across the street...was walking distance to schools, Rob's work, coffee shops, Target, the new library...so many things.  Plus, there were our neighbors.  God definitely had a hand in us choosing this house because it is how we met so many of our wonderful friends.  We'll miss being right next door to them.  We knew it would take a near perfect find for us to justify moving.
Before the kids were born, we enjoyed many sunset evenings sitting here and admiring the mountains - the mountain views are what I'll miss second most.

Seeing the sunset from our master bedroom, looking out over the balcony.  (We snapped this photo while prepping the house for sale.  I'm pretty sure I shed some tears.)

I was so busy on moving day that I didn't get many opportunities for photos.  Here are just a couple very random photos - our new front door with the moving truck in the driveway.  Funny story about that side window...I contacted a glass company to come out and give us a quote on replacing the window because I couldn't stand that bubble glass look.  The guy comes in and pulls off a privacy press and peel - voila, clear normal glass.  I was laughing so hard - it was the cheapest fix on the new house so far!!!!  LOL.

Our new home (sorry for the cloudy day photo, but I really wanted to get this post up, I'm so far behind!).  We feel so fortunate to have found this home in the midst of a crazy housing market.  So many pieces came together and we couldn't be more grateful!  We are now just 10 minutes southwest of our old house.  Still walking distance to a great elementary school, a couple of different parks, our neighborhood pool and tennis courts, wonderful walking/biking trails and a reservoir.  The house faces east and the back abuts some open farm land to the west still giving us views of the foothills.  We now have room for our kids to grow, visitors to come stay and a yard for the kids to spend hours exploring and playing in :)  We are excited to make this house feel more and more like home!
