Jameson's First Birthday!

Our little one turned 1!!!!   We celebrated with banana bread cupcakes and some first steps :)  The day before his birthday, he took his first steps while playing around in the kitchen.  I am so happy that I was home with him that Monday and able to witness it.  He took more solitary steps that evening for Rob, then more the next day, again at his 1 year check-up and has become a walking machine ever since.  Now, he easily walks from room to room and loves chasing the dogs around the house (finally having a vertical advantage).  His 1 year appointment confirmed that he's on target with all areas of development.  He's still our "little" guy, measuring 19lbs, 7.9oz and 29in long.

More teeth are working their way in to join the 4 pictured.  He still loves brushing his teeth and makes the cutest giggles - either it tickles or he's laughing at my silly made-up songs about teeth brushing (it's really a toss up!).

Jameson is an excellent eater.  We were a little worried when he first didn't like the introduction of dairy milk, but after a few weeks he now seems to enjoy it (but not as much as sparkling water - weird, right?).  While he'll eat all the foods that we've given him, he has picked up on how fun it is to feed the dogs with his own dinner, and our "mean" looks and stern "no's" don't always cut it.  Some of his favorite foods include yogurt, cheese, all fruit, and banana bread.  We have yet to give him a serving of our meals that he doesn't like (including some spicy dishes!).  He's caught on to the coordination of feeding himself with his spoon - we'll see how long until he can scoop it himself.

Fun and active birthday present.  While part of me wishes we'd given it to him sooner,  I do think that it helped increase his confidence with taking steps beyond his first few.  Now, close to a month later, he doesn't need it at all.  Go figure!
