7 Months (and some more of my busy summer)

A beautiful afternoon for a Mommy and Baby picnic on the shore of Lake Loveland.  After going for a walk, we played in the grass under some tree shade and watched dogs splash in the water - what a great day!

I'm 7 months old!  Some highlights...likes standing more and more - even wanting to hold on and partially support himself, is stronger at sitting and reaching out to balance himself if he starts to tip, is practicing his fine motor skills (as seen below), is more squirmy on the changing table which makes for challenging diaper changes, reaches out to be held and will actually pull our arms into him when we get close (aw!).

Andrea came out to Fort Collins for a weekend visit!  Jameson loved meeting her and showing her around.  Here we are on our way up to Gem Lake just outside of Estes Park.

Made it to the top!  Daddy said that this adorable hat made him embarrassed for both of us, but look at how cute and happy I am!!!

After a fun day in the mountains, we recovered at a great Mexican restaurant in Estes Park.

You can't say you don't have a fan in the infant demographic!

"What makes you think we're up to no good?"  17-month-old Nate (and his mom Krista) came out to Colorado from Boston and spent some time with us in Fort Collins.

Practicing manual dexterity with some cereal pieces.  We were actually quite impressed by his natural inclination to grasp at the pieces with a forefinger and thumb.  Now, if he could just transfer the food that way to his mouth (we need a little more work with that one as you can see in the photo).

Tyler Visits!

Ooooh, you say Uncle Tyler is coming?!?!?!

We (by that I mean, I) have been dying to play mini golf ever since moving to Colorado.  Here we are enjoying a fun Friday night out at Fort Fun!  Ice cream in Old Town was the perfect way to cap the evening - YUM!!!

Despite this minor set back, I did manage a frightening come back to win the night!

We drove down to Frisco and biked the trail from Frisco to Copper Mountain.  It was so gorgeous and despite the rather short distance, the starting elevation and elevation change made it a challenging ride.  Tyler and I biked the leg up, met with Rob and Jameson for a picnic lunch at Copper Mountain and then Rob rode back down with Tyler while I hung with Jameson.  It was an amazing day :)

We drove up the Poudre Canyon and headed to Cameron Pass (half way to Steamboat) for an afternoon of hiking.  On the way, we stopped and ate lunch on the river at the infamous Mishawaka Bar.  It was so cool sitting out on the deck, right above the water and watching rafters go by.  We got hit with some variable weather, but by the time we went hiking it was beautiful out.

I'm tired!

This marked a perfect spot to turn around.  We forgot bug spray and the mosquitos and biting flies were pretty unforgiving the entire trail.  They seemed to really like me...at the end of the day I had 7 bites!  The boys...none.  Never forgetting bug spray again!

Jameson 6 Months

6 months!!!!  At Jameson's 6 month appointment, he weighed 16lbs, 3oz and measured 26.25in.  Those are slight increases from 4 months, moving along on his own growth curve.  Recent developments include sitting (so fun watching him work on his balance) and starting solid foods.   He also has an established favored sleeping position - on his stomach.  He rolls over almost immediately when you put him down to sleep at night.

I'm sure the girls would love if he'd join their pack!  Jameson and I were playing on the floor and he rolled over and scooted into this position...it was so cute, so I had to take a picture (I'm just glad that he paused long enough for me to get the shot!).

Whew, glad that's over!

I think the rice cereal is growing on me!  (Or at least he doesn't feel the need to spit it out right away!)



Right off the bat, he's liked to help feed himself.



Wedding Weekend in California

Jameson turned 6 months and stepped in the ocean for the first time!  We had a blast hanging in Laguna with our friends!

4th of July celebration at the Hollywood Bowl in LA.  J slept right through the fireworks...go figure!  Here is daddy enticing him with a carrot as we moved towards introducing him to solids.

We loved staying with Erika...she's the best!  Jameson had a blast meeting her newest family member...Lucy, the Bichon Frise puppy.

Wine tasting in Santa Barbara..."cheers" to five wonderful years of a blessed marriage.

Grandma and Grandpa Pilat came to LA for Aunt Donna's wedding, too, and joined us on a day trip up to Santa Barbara.  Here's J and his Grandpa.

Cousins....oh, this picture speaks for itself.  I think we have a lot to look forward to at family holidays!

Now that's more like it.

J loves going after daddy's nose...how that started?  I blame Rob.

July 5th...Happy 5th Wedding Anniversary!  We celebrated our evening joining Donna and Peter at their wedding rehearsal dinner.
