Growing x2

Our little boy is growing up so fast.  Each day we're excited to see what new tasks we might be witness to.  In this photo, you can see a colorful caterpillar tunnel that we bought for him to crawl through.  A couple of his friends have one and Jameson has always been wary to move through it, so I figured we'd get our own to have at home.  He now loves crawling through it and I'm confident he'll brave it over at a friend's house, too.

Jameson still has his big baby blue eyes, which we LOVE.   He's sweet and thoughtful.  I think we may be seeing some Type A personality starting to come out though.  He's not bossy or controlling around peers (tending more towards "going with the flow"), but he may be a bit of a neat freak.  He loves putting all laundry in the hamper (including our clean clothes), helping move clothes from washer to dryer and really, really likes throwing garbage away (especially Kleenex).  He's grown increasingly familiar with his routines.  When we're getting ready to eat and talking about having a meal, he heads into the kitchen.  After telling him that it's time to go upstairs and get ready for bed, he heads for the stairs and then to his room - unless we say "bath" and in that case he makes a beeline for the tub.  When it's time to change his diaper, he goes to his changing table...time to brush teeth, he goes to the bathroom.  When we finish brushing, we now have a tradition of shaking mom's vitamin bottle like a maraca and dancing to the beat Jameson creates.  It's our "exercise before bed".

Baby #2 is 16 weeks old and we're eager to find out if Jameson will have a brother or sister.  Either way, I can't wait to meet this little one.  I just started a pre-natal yoga class to give me and baby time.  At home, everything is about Jameson and I started thinking how different this pregnancy seems to be from his.  I put so much energy and focus on my first pregnancy and while it isn't feasible to do the same this time around, I'm appreciating the little time away I can have with my newest little one.

Children's Discovery Museum

Met with a friend and her boys for lunch and then we all headed over to the Children's Discovery Museum in Old Town.  Needless to say, Jameson loved the musical instrument exhibits.  Maybe we'll be getting a season pass soon!

Day with Dad

"Yay, a day home alone with dad!"  I had a bachelorette party that was an all-day affair down in Denver, so the boys had the day all to themselves.  This is Jameson waking up from his nap excited about what the afternoon has in store.
Ellie often can't wait to rush upstairs when she hears that Jameson is awake.  Here she is waiting patiently at the door, yearning to get inside and see her favorite play pal.

Ellie: OK, I'm in...now he just needs to get out of his cage so he can play!

Since flying home from Natalie's baby shower and having the woman in the seat next to me comment on how much of a life saver Cheerios are with little kids, I made the mistake of buying them!!!  Now Jameson wants to snack on Cheerios all the time and he knows exactly where they are.  And as you can imagine, the dogs love his snacking too!

The neighbors brought a bunch of balls over to the park and Jameson must have thought they were there just waiting for him to come out and play!  Balls are his favorite toy these days.  Going over to friends' houses, he goes for any ball toys first.  Waking up in the morning at home, he rushes to play with balls.  At the park and with dad...he thinks he's in heaven!

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see? remains one of Jameson's favorite books.  He's gotten really good at starting to pick out objects in various books, such as balls, certain animals, etc., and we can see that his vocabulary is growing as he'll point to objects that we call out.  While Rob and I usually go through Jameson's bedtime routine together, I'm often the one who reads to him.  The boys enjoy a bunch of "silly" time which usually involves chasing, loud noises, tickling and giggles just before getting on pajamas and settling down.  On this night, however, since I was out Jameson also had the excitement of storytime with Daddy.

Status Update: Big Brother

In January, we learned that we're expecting another little bundle of joy :)  We are so excited and can't wait to see Jameson take on the new role of "big brother" and for the kids to have a live-in playmate and best friend (fingers crossed).
These are some of the announcement photos that I took at our park across the street to help us share the great news!

Hair Cuts at Home

Daddy's turn to cut some hair (before he's in the seat for his own turn).  For the most part, Jameson does pretty well staying still - although, to do it alone might be asking for trouble.  He stays still for as long as one of us can entertain him with something novel.  Not only do Jameson and Rob get their hair cut at home, but we recently bought grooming clippers and have started to groom the dogs at home, too!  I thought Rob was nuts, but he's pretty convincing with pointing to the money saved and our first attempt didn't turn out that bad.  Plus, there is always the promise that things get better with practice (let's hope for that!).

Saturday Morning Outings

So thankful to have days of warmer weather so that we can enjoy the outdoors and explore our different nearby parks.

I'm sure Jameson didn't know that our adventure into Old Town Square would include a bear encounter.  Not quite the same as the bear we read about in "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?".

Ah, fish.  I can handle fish.  Grandpa taught me all about them.

Saturday brunch...yum!  Here we've documented Jameson's first attempt at sticking out his tongue.  We've been waiting for quite some time!  The day prior to this, we learned that Jameson is allergic to peanuts (puffy lip, facial rash, itchy eyes and runny nose after his first exposure to peanut butter) :(  After seeing an allergist, we've also been told he has a mild allergy to tree nuts, so we're to avoid all peanuts and tree nuts.  After brunch we proceeded to wander around Old Town and Jameson got excited when he saw a real horse.  He had a blast getting to pet the horse, but about 20 minutes later we noticed his wrist was swollen and red...we had quite the informative weekend!
